Pump It Up 2026 was a great success!

Saturday, May 9th, in the Unesco World Heritage Site of Dinosaur Provincial Park was the 20th annual Pump It Up Fun Run hosted by the Rotary Club of Brooks.  We had about three hundred runners, roughly half from out of town.  Once again, the weather cooperated.  It was a bit cool and breezy perhaps, but when you are running fast that little bit of air conditioning is often a good thing.

This event as they say “checks off many boxes” including: attracting tourism to our area showing off our World Class scenery, gives residents a unique event to participate in, is family friendly, is not expensive, is a challenge for some, supports a local service group that supports our residents and provides many assets to the area, involves the club and extra volunteers in a fun collaboration of activity, and gets people outdoors enjoying exercise and each other.  Everyone also enjoyed free hot dogs and some fruit.
We would like to thank Mitch Iwaasa, Tony Diep and Grant Jensen, the coordinators of this event, the extra volunteers (Friends of Rotary and the Kinsmen) who assist us, and the sponsors who keep our costs down and provide extra resources.  (Orion LLP, Stingray Radio, Safeway, Stitch FX, Bevan and Partners, Work n Play) This year, the Sage Brush Arts Society provided a free activity for the kids, to paint and keep a model dinosaur.
This was another great event in the Brooks area, and we are happy to shout about it.  Mark your calendars and watch for next year, Saturday on Mother’s Day weekend, May 8th, when we will do it again.
