LAST PREPARATIONS FOR ISADORA BRUM NESI’S NEW GENERATIONS SERVICE EXCHANGE (NGSE) PROGRAM IN DISTRICT 5360

23-year-old Brazilian Isadora (Isa) Brum Nesi touches down at Calgary International on Saturday, 17 January 2026. This young woman, inter alia, holds a degree in Physical Education.

We had our last Zoom meeting of the year with Isadora on Friday, 14 November. Rotarian Mihaela Craciun spoke with Isa about her vocational internship at a Gym in Medicine Hat, of which Mihaela is the Director. Mihaela and her family will double as Isa’s second host family.
Mihaela mentioned the option for Isa of doing voluntary service at the Saamis Immigration Services Association.
Janae Ulrich spoke about the Redcliff Youth Centre, of which she is the Director, and the variety of activities in which Isa can get involved, including those at the vocational level.

We were happy that Rotarian Nadia Deenen was able to join the meeting and participate in the planning and discussions. Nadia and her husband, Maarten, are happy to be Isa’s first host family.

The Rotary Clubs of Canmore and High River are finalizing vocational internships for Isa during her three weeks in these two cities. Isa is going to be on an exciting learning curve, being exposed to our many winter sporting activities, most of which are not familiar to those living in warmer countries in the south!

A final Zoom meeting with Isa is scheduled for Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Mountain Time. The plan is for all involved in her program - in Medicine Hat, Canmore, and High River - to join in that meeting for final planning and to address any questions anyone may have.
Isadora will be a guest speaker at meetings of the Rotary Clubs in the three cities in which she is spending her 40-day NGSE program. Additional invitations from other clubs would be welcomed and accommodated, if possible!
