Soap for Hope's Mission is to provide and assist in delivering humanitarian aid, shelter, sustainable water systems, and hygiene products to people affected by natural and other disasters; or with compelling local need.

A program of Disaster Aid Canada, Soap for Hope provides hygiene amenities and linens to community facilities that support marginalized people within our community. This includes shelters, transitional homes, food banks, schools and seniors facilities. We work with hotels to collect their used hygiene amenities, and our amazing volunteers reprocess these items to provide products that were once destined for the landfill.  Many shelters have little to no budget for hygiene products. If they need to buy soap, then monies are diverted from food or other essential programs.

Rotarian and Executive Director, Michelle Edgar, started the local branch of Soap for Hope in Airdrie 3 years ago and now has a 4000 sq. ft. donated facility at Deerfoot and McKnight. In the last three years, we have grown to service over 40 different shelters/ transitional houses, community centers, churches and schools in the Airdrie and Calgary area. By diverting hygiene products such as shampoos, bar soaps and lotions, we have been able to help homeless individuals regain their dignity and health while protecting the environment.
