Dear Rotarians in D5360:

I’ve enjoyed connecting with my host club, the Rotary Club of Somerville! They are all incredibly lovely and have invited me to several of their events.

In my master's program, I’ve made some very close friends, joined the education school’s soccer team, and am working with friends to run a conference about dyslexia in the spring. If anyone in the district has any expertise in dyslexia and/or knows someone who would want to speak at or attend a conference about dyslexia, let’s connect!

Although I’ve enjoyed the learning I’ve been doing in my classes, I’ve found education policy a very personally challenging subject. At times, I’ve found myself studying layers of inequality as I experience them, and I occasionally disagree entirely with my professors’ views on education issues.

I’m so grateful to District 5360 for this scholarship and the opportunity to be here doing this!

Sincerely,
Maya Pohve
