A fond Farewell to Martina

Inbound NGSE participant, Martina Lirussi, sadly but appropriately had to cut short her two month NGSE program in our District when she developed a very unexpected medical problem.
Martina headed back to District 2060 in Italy on Saturday, August 23.
An update on Wednesday, August 27, indicates that Martina is being prepared for surgery.
At the end of her second week, Rotaractors took Martina to Drumheller and the Royal Tyrell Museum, as she reported in the previous issue of the 5360 Digest.

They had a fun day together, sharing much information about Rotaract in their respective districts and clubs. A good connection has been forged.

During her third and final week, Martina took leave of Hyder Hassan and the SafeBlu company in Strathmore, where she applied her marketing and social media knowledge and skills, as part of the vocational pillar of her program.

Kim Kardushyn was a great host mother! In a short space of time, Martina was transformed into a veritable Western Canadian ‘cowgirl’!
To Kim, Hyder, Henry, Nicholas, Emily, Neeharika, Alison, Judy and all, a big thank you from the District 5360 NGSE team for making Martina’s NGSE experience as rich and as mutually beneficial as it was!
To those who were still due to receive Martina, Jon, Cindy, Steve, Susan, and Kari – thank you! Let’s look to the future - hopefully, another time, another inbound NGSE participant!

Martina, we hope and trust that your medical situation will be dealt with effectively. An update from you on Saturday, 6 September, confirmed that you will be undergoing surgery soon. All the very best for the op.
We look forward to seeing you again, whether as a tourist or as a returning NGSE participant, in whatever capacity suits you best!

In the meantime, all good wishes for your Master’s studies! We look forward to our Zoom gathering with you in a month or two! All who were part of your program will be invited to this farewell celebration!
