Open House Information Meeting –
Wednesday, May 12, 4:30 PM to 5:10 PM – NOTE: REVISED TIME
Special Guest – Calgary Health Foundation
The Foothill Medical Centre Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) serves Southern Alberta, Southwest Saskatchewan, Southeast BC and even the state of Montana on occasion providing critical care to newborns. The unit is amid an $83 million redevelopment and expansion.
A team from Calgary Health Foundation and Foothill Medical Centre will be presenting this project to the committee at its regular meeting. Given the geographical scope of this project, the committee would like to allow all Rotarians in District 5360 to learn more about the NICU and its role in the lives of premature babies requiring critical care.
The Calgary Health Foundation invites the Rotary Club to consider an investment of $2,000,000 over 5 years to create the Rotary Club Welcome Centre at the Foothills NICU. This investment will provide the much-needed financial resources to build and furnish the space, supporting staff, family and friends as they come to visit.
As you may know, we usually have the HoF as part of the annual district conference. This year we are doing things a bit differently and having a separate virtual event for the HoF on Wednesday, June 09, 2021, from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm.
There will be (4) breakout sessions over the two hours, so at registration indicate the (4) sessions which interest you the most to learn about. In between the sessions you may stretch your legs, fill up your drink or listen to the updates from our District Governors.
It is going to be a great evening to hear from great Rotarians who have not let the pandemic slow them down. Here are the summaries of available presentations to choose your top 4 options.
Join us on June 11 for a Lobster dinner - drive-thru edition. We are so excited to host a community event, even if it looks a bit different than we are used to. You can find all the details and purchase tickets at https://lacomberotarylobster.eventbrite.ca
For 70 years, buying a ticket to the Stampede Lotteries has offered the opportunity to win incredible prizes each July. But more than that, it has offered hope and support to charities within the community. In the 1950s, the first prizes were flashy cars, quickly followed by the very first Dream Home, soon to become the Rotary Dream Home, through the involvement of the Rotary Club of Calgary South (now the Rotary Club of Calgary at Stampede Park). It was a six-room, two-car garage bungalow, valued at $35,000. Ticket buyers came in droves, hoping to win the modern home or one of the extravagant vehicles in a draw that took place in front of the packed Grandstand. And just as the value of the prizing grew each year, so did the support of local charities.
With more than 100 prizes valued at more than $2.2 million, the Calgary Stampede Lotteries is bigger and better than ever in 2021. It includes the most valuable prize ever offered, the Rotary Dream Home by Homes by Avi, with a bonus of $100,000 cash. Tickets are now on sale to win the Dream Home as well as the new Kinsmen Lottery, which is now worth more than a million dollars. It features 8 grand prizes, including a truck & fifth wheel package valued at more than $230,000, and a wide assortment of other big-ticket items including a cash prize of $100,000. There are also more than 50 additional prize packages to win, plus the largest ever Early Bird prize, a ready-to-go-anywhere class B motor coach valued at nearly $155,000.
