Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service
Many of our District 5360 members are dedicated to the Rotary Foundation and spend much of their time providing their Rotary service participating in Foundation grants or programs, serving on Foundation committees at the club, district or international level or supporting Ambassadorial Scholars, Rotary Peace Fellows and vocational training teams.
The Rotary Foundation has a program to recognize outstanding efforts and results annually by awarding a maximum of one Citation for Meritorious Service. Our district is very active in Foundation matters and this is a request for nominations for individuals to be so honoured. An individual may receive this award only once. Any active Rotarian in good standing may be nominated, with the exception of current and incoming district governors, current and incoming RI directors, and current Foundation trustees. Note that financial contributions to the Foundation, however notable, are not relevant considerations for this award.
Nominations should be submitted by June 1, 2018 with an accompanying paragraph explaining the rationale for the nomination. Please submit it to Asha Paul, Rotary Awards Coordinator at asha.paul@me.com
A committee of 4 will review the nominations and make a selection. They include the District Governor, District Governor Elect, District Foundation Chair and the Rotary Awards Coordinator.
Please note that RI World Headquarters must receive the completed nomination form by 30 June.

Hello fellow Rotarians - are you ready to make difference?
School nutrition programs play a critical role in helping children build healthy minds and bodies. Several organizations in Calgary generously provide free or reduced-cost nutrition programs to more than 5,000 children from low-income families in over 200 schools. A meal received at school may be a hungry child’s only meal of the day. Sadly, the majority of low-income kids who depend on subsidized nutrition programs during the school year do not have the same access to a free meal during the summer. The resulting hunger can have an overwhelming effect on their physical, emotional and social health, and delay their academic performance by up to two months at the start of the school year.
Rotary Club of Calgary Fish Creek is proud to support I Can for Kids and their mission is to end summer childhood hunger in Calgary. They are driven by passion and purpose to provide a community where every child can focus on being a kid and not worry about where they'll find their next meal.
We need your help! We are looking for 60 volunteers to roll up their sleeves to help I Can for Kids assemble thousands of food packs for hungry kids this summer.
When: Monday, June 4, from 5:30-8:30 pm
Where: 215 16 St SE (Calgary Herald building)
Qualifications: Opposable thumbs and a sense of humour
Other stuff: Food and beverage will be provided, wear closed-toed comfy shoes (it’s a concrete floor and you will be standing most of the time)
All volunteers will be required to complete a waiver that will be sent prior to June 4th to everyone who signs up.
This evening isreserved exclusively for Rotariansand their friends and family.
With your support, we will connect hungry kids with the food they need to have the healthy, care-free summer they deserve, and a much healthier start to their school year.
If you would like to join us for a great evening of doing good and having fun, please register your name before May 30th with bobbi@icanforkids.ca.
