From Co-location to Collaboration - The Village Square Community Hub Story
 
On Wednesday, May 16th, join the Community Hubs Collaborative from 5-7pm at the Village Square Community Hub for an evening of inspiration and learning!
 
The Village Square Leisure Centre is one of seven sites participating in the Community Hubs Initiative – a  partnership between United Way of Calgary and AreaThe City of Calgary, and Rotary to activate community hubs in priority locations across Calgary by 2021. Community Hubs are a key activation strategy of Enough for All,
 
Calgary’s community-driven poverty reduction strategy.
  •          Experience Village Square’s new Community Living Room
  •          See some great resident-led community projects and meet the residents behind them
  •          Hear how the Hub approach has shifted the way the Village Square partners including Alberta Health Services, Calgary Public Library, Calgary Recreation, and the Parent Link Centre and Heart of the North East Community Resource Centre work together.
Light refreshments will be served. May 16th is also half-price night at the wave pool so bring the family!

Adventures in Photography, Aug 10 to 12, Athabasca
 
A redesigned Adventures in Photography program is planned for 2018, featuring: 
- more nature photography
- youth and adults participating together
- smartphone camera applications, and
- family camping & recreation at Rocky Lane Fairways & Recreation (4 km south of Athabasca).

The workshop is Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, August 10 to 12, 2018, during the Perseids, the most popular meteor shower of the year.
A new moon on August 11 should provide optimum light conditions.
 
Youth and adults are invited to apply, and youth applicants will receive priority for the available spots.

Send a business-minded kid to the Rotary Alberta Youth Entrepreneurship Camp this summer,
August 12 to 18, 2018 at Eagle's Nest Ranch, Cypress Hills, Alberta
 
It's an action-packed week of adventure and entrepreneurship that gives hands-on experience starting and operating a business in a camp setting.
Rotary clubs can get involved in numerous ways - sponsoring a youth, volunteering and also helping to spread the word to youth in their community.

Once youth have applied and are accepted, they are matched with a club in their area.
