Dear Rotarians Friends,

In keeping with RI President Tanaka’s theme, our District 2490 (Israel) will hold our 1st. Annual International Youth Peace Camp aimed to enhance young “Leaders for Peace", who upon returning to their home communities, will become young ambassadors of understanding, goodwill and peace through community service.

The Peace Camp's educational approach is based on the LEAD Foundation's training seminars. LEAD is an outstanding Israeli organization that has developed a proven model for training youth and young adults in the field of peace and conflict resolution.

LEAD’s goal is to develop leadership skills among youngsters and thus steer society towards a better and more peaceful future. We invite you to visit LEAD's site and learn more about the foundation at: www.lead.org.il/eng/

The Rotary Youth Peace Camp will be held on the 15th-20th of March, 2013. Full board and accommodation will be provided for the participants at the K'far Ha'Yarok, a picturesque youth village not far from Ben Gurion International Airport and about 15 miles from Tel Aviv.

I would also like to inform you that among the distinguished guests honoring the opening plenary of the Peace Camp will be:

  • President of Israel the Honorable Shimon Peres
  • Former Minister of Education (Israel) Professor Yuli Tamir
  • U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mr. Daniel B. Shapiro
